BA Reveals Merger Talks with Qantas

Further consolidation was looming in the airline sector after British Airways confirmed it was in merger talks with its rival airline — Australia’s Qantas.
After the airline announced it was exploring the potential of dual-listed status, under which both companies could retain their identities, shares in BA closed up 12%. BA also said merger talks with the Australian airline would not affect negotiations already under way with Spain’s Iberia.
