Increase Use in Burning Wood

Burning issue of the wood fuel atove have been hailed as the green alternative to oil or gas heating in the home. However, there has been a large rise in the demand for wood-burning stove, a trend due to the continuing rises in the price of oil and gas. But as logs crackle incountless wood-burning stoves across Scotland, the warmth comes at a cost.These trendy accessories are threatening the country’s forests, as demand for hardwood fuel has doubled in six months. Campaigners warn that if the trend towards wood-fuelled heating continues, there will have to be a replacement programme for hardwood, which provides the most effective fuel. However, in spite of the fears for wood stocks, the stove manufacturers are struggling to cope with demand.
