Police Can’t Stop Rise of Crime Gangs‏

Police have identified almost 3000 organised criminal gangs, three times the number previously acknowledged, and admit that British law enforcement is ill-equipped to deal with the threat they pose. An official report reveals that the finding by intelligence analysts that 2800 crime groups are active England in Wales.
The report was completed six months ago but marked ‘restricted’ and circulated only to ministraters and police chiefs. After a freedom of information request, it was made available this month in edited form.Issued by HM Inspectorate of Constabulary, it is the first time that officials have disclosed the true scale of gangland threat and made the frank anmission that they are struggling to cope with it. The report states that UK law enforcement community now knows more about organised criminality than ever before. This increased knowledge has highlighted the need for a more effective response by the police and other agencies.
